Excavating soil contaminated with Japanese Knotweed for ‘off-site’ burial can be very costly as it is classified as controlled waste in the UK. The less contaminated soil you have, the lower the costs of the off-site burial will be. For this reason, we provide a Japanese Knotweed sifting and screening service, this is where fragments of the root and rhizomes are removed from the soil, resulting in less waste.
Using plant machinery, a thin layer of top soil is scraped back and then sifted or screened by our team of Japanese Knotweed Surveyors. Japanese Knotweed screening only takes a day or two, depending on the size of the site, and once the entire site has been screened, it is ready for immediate development. For very large sites, specialist plant machinery can be used which can screen up to 40 tons of contaminated soil per hour.
